Points for Life a gaming charity event

Points for Life is a gaming based charity event that is set to take place in June 2010.

Points for Life is scheduled to take place on the 5th of June 2010, and invites players to seek sponsorship money for any Achievements or Trophies earned on that day. All raised funds will be donated to Child's Play and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

On the day starting at 9am GMT all participants will have 24 hours to collect as many Achievements (Xbox 360), Trophies (PS3) or Steam Achievements also. Donations can be collected per achievement, for example 50p per achievement, or just a lump sum, so you could sponsor (or be sponsored) £20 for taking part.

"We, gamers, are a massive community and a determined bunch of people," said event organiser Daniel Lipscombe. "Charities such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and Child's Play need money to keep up the great work they do, and if we come together we can give something back and do some good."

The event is being sponsored by Resolution Magazine and Nidzumi+, two videogame websites which Daniel Lipscombe works as a journalist for.

And what excuse do you have for not taking part? Well you get to play games for a whole day, and rack up achievements. A whole day worth of gaming could get you that Gamerscore you need to beat your mate. It is the best excuse ever to sit in on a Saturday and just play games, so sign up and help out others while you play games.
